Sales of large screen LED video displays and scoreboards to collegiate athletic facilities across the country continue to increase for Trans-Lux Corporation, New York, with its most recent sale includes a TL Vision center-hung, four-sided 10mm LED display system at Virginia’s Hampton University’s Convocation Center arena.
The new LED display system at the arena, home to Pirate Pride and Division 1 NCAA action, is being driven by Trans-Lux’s powerful epic Series LED System Software Suite from a newly constructed production and control room.
Rich in history, steeped in tradition, Hampton University is a dynamic, progressive institution of higher education, providing a broad range of technical, liberal arts, and graduate degree programs. In addition to being one of the top historically black universities in the world, Hampton University is a tightly-knit community of learners and educators, representing 49 states and 35 territories and nations.
“Our market analysis continues to show that while the size and scope of LED display systems at colleges and universities continues to increase, higher education institutions like Hampton University are focusing on performance and return on investment more than ever before,” says J.M. Allain, president and CEO of Trans-Lux Corporation. “The better news is that Trans-Lux is meeting this market demand with innovative LED display solutions that deliver higher performance, cost-efficiencies and overall value. The new TL Vision center-hung, four-sided 10mm LED display lighting up Hampton University’s Convocation Center is testimony to the value proposition Trans-Lux provides large sporting venues.”
Trans-Lux’s sales and engineering team worked with All American Scoreboards to design the center hung display and production control/room, which has been installed by Tidewater Signs. The project entailed installation of a new hoist system for the massive TL Vision center-hung, four-sided 10mm LED display system, which features a custom designed cabinet that significantly reduced the load on the facility’s roof.
The new display system incorporates Trans-Lux’s industry proven 10mm black 3-in-1 LED technology that produces high definition images comparable to flat panel LCD and plasma displays. Each face of the four sided LED display measures approximately 8’H x 13’W, engaging fans at every angle and distance. TL Vision LED large screen displays feature a 16-bit palette of more than 281 trillion colors, and provide long life and low power consumption that helps further reduce total cost of ownership and increase ROI.
Trans-Lux’s epic Series LED System Software Suite is driving the new venter-hung display system in the university’s Convocation Center arena. The powerful processing software consists of four modules that can be used standalone or as an integrated software solution with exceptional installation flexibility.
Craig Katt, senior vice-president of Display Technologies at Trans-Lux, says that the forward thinking of the people at Hampton further enabled Trans-Lux to provide them with a totally customized LED display solution that will increase fan engagement and revenues.
“It’s a win-win for Hampton University’s sporting program and administration,” says Katt.
