Mersive, Denver-based provider of display management and collaboration software, has announced that North Carolina State University College of Design will adopt its Solstice software to enhance visual collaboration amongst students and instructors.
Using Solstice within the College of Design enables students to achieve a new level of collaboration centered on visual data while also eliminating the costs students incur for printing projects for presentations and critiques.
Solstice software is a visual collaboration solution enabling multiple users to connect, share and control a display simultaneously from their mobile device – phone, tablet or computer – using an existing IP network. With Solstice, anyone with a mobile device or laptop can walk into a study room, classroom or meeting room and instantly connect and share media to a display, creating an immediate collaboration or presentation session.
By installing Solstice software, The College of Design provides digital presentation and critique spaces for students in all disciplines – Architecture, Art+Design, Design Studies, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Landscape Architecture and PhD in Design. The expansion and integration of Solstice within The College of Design currently includes the installation of two Delta WX31-HD WideXtreme display systems equipped with Solstice
“Our students work in a studio environment to produce design projects that are critiqued by peers, instructors and juries,” says Jonas McCoy, director of information technology at the College of Design. “For many years, our students have printed large-format plans, posters, etc., for critiques. Some students can spend several hundred dollars a year printing these. This new system not only provides an innovative space for presentations, collaboration and critiques, but it eliminates the cost of printing by presenting digitally rather than on hard copy.”
Solstice provides a robust presentation and collaboration solution for students and transforms displays into network devices that are part of the IT infrastructure. As a software-only solution, Solstice can be easily scaled and managed across the network as NC State broadens their deployment of Solstice throughout The College of Design.
“As The College of Design moves towards offering students the next generation of collaboration on its campus, we’re thrilled to be a part of the solution that bring this new level of collaboration to its students and instructors,” says Rob Balgley, CEO, Mersive.
