NEC Display Solutions of America and NEC Display Solutions Europe have launched the MultiSync® X474HB, a large format display bringing an engaging digital signage option for high brightness environments and sunlight-readable operation.
The 47-inch specialty LCD display is designed to intelligently adapt to its surroundings, offering a bright, clear image when required, without wasting energy when it’s not. Offering a brightness of up to 2000cd/m2 – nearly three times that of most other NEC large format displays – the X474HB is easily visible in shopping windows or cabinets for outdoor applications.
Tobias Augustin, Product Manager Public Display Solutions at NEC Display Solutions Europe said “Large format LCD displays often struggle to be as effective in unshaded outdoor conditions where the temperature and brightness of sunlight wash out the image. To compensate, these displays are often run at maximum brightness, wearing out the display lifetime faster whilst image performance is still unsatisfactory”.
“NEC’s X474HB display addresses these issues with a high brightness display that is designed to cope with the durability and readability challenges often arise in sunlit areas. As such, this display is ideal for any heavy duty digital signage application that requires enhanced visual performance, flexible control and connectivity as well as long operating hours.”
The 10-bit colour S-IPS panel with direct LED backlight ensures optimal visual ergonomics thanks to deeper black levels, improved contrast and readability and lower power consumption. Furthermore, the X474HB boasts a 110°C TNI, meaning the liquid crystals won’t distort and go black in the heat of direct sunlight.
As well as a full high-definition high-brightness panel, the display incorporates a ShineOut Anti-Glare coating and a Quarter-Lambda optical filter is used to overcome polarisation of light emitted by the display. This guarantees full readability in semi-outdoor installations such as order terminals or info totems, even when wearing polarised sunglasses.
The X474HB display also includes an NFC sensor that can be addressed via a matching app for Android devices. This will help reducing installation cost as several displays can be easily configured before they are mounted. Installers simply set the configuration once in the app and then just copy settings on all displays in the install without the displays needing to be connected to power. Maintenance is simplified as service relevant information can easily be downloaded by just holding a NFC-capable tablet or smartphone to the display, also making failure reporting more convenient for the user.
The combination of intelligent power saving and thermal management features, not only reduces energy usage, but also ensures that the display aligns with NEC’s Green Vision for sustainability and is as eco-friendly as possible.
The new X474HB also incorporates an interface extension slot and NEC’s OPS option slot, which allows for the integration of single board computers and other option slot products based on the current NEC and new NEC/Intel OPS standard without the need to stow external equipment.
The X474HB display is available now in North America at an estimated street price of USD 4,149. The display ships with a three year parts and labor warranty, including the backlight.
The NEC MultiSync® X474HB high brightness display will be available across EMEA from December 2014.
The new display will be on show in the Take-away section of the NEC Display Solutions booth 4-R24 at #ISE2015 trade fair in Amsterdam from 10 – 12 February 2015.
