London is Changing Campaign @Outdoor_Plus
World-renowned centre for art and design, Central Saint Martins UAL has teamed up with Outdoor Plus to promote their London is Changing campaign.
The campaign, designed by Dr Rebecca Ross, Senior Lecturer and MA Communication Design Course Leader at Central Saint Martins, will study the impact of economic and policy changes on the culture and diversity in London.
London is Changing looks to capture voices from a range of Londoners who are considering moving to/within/away from London. Using a web form on londonischanging.org, participants are asked a series of questions intended to capture a variety of personal stories and circumstances.
Responses are displayed on Outdoor Plus digital billboards in Central London. Example responses include:
- ‘I miss London so much, especially the people who made London so special for me.’ – a graphic designer who recently relocated from the City of London to Malaysia
- ‘There are so many kinds of people in London and so much creative energy’ – an art student who recently relocated from France to Tower Hamlets
The digital billboards, located in key London locations, The Eye Holborn and City of London Gateway, present a unique opportunity for individual voices to be featured prominently in two of the busiest areas of central London.
Grant Branfoot, sales director at Outdoor Plus said: “At Outdoor Plus we pride ourselves on having the best digital outdoor sites in the heart of London. We jumped at the chance to work with Central Saint Martins on this thought provoking and digital led campaign.”
Dr Rebecca Ross, Senior Lecturer and MA Communication Design Course Leader at Central Saint Martins said: “The digital technology afforded the opportunity to facilitate a city-wide dialogue about the socio-economic changes underway in London and display the voices of individuals impacted at a monumental scale normally reserved for large corporations.”
