In an effort to respond to customer needs, LG Electronics USA Inc. introduced its next generation of digital signage products, led by Ultra HD signage displays and an expanded line of displays featuring the commercial version of its webOS platform.
“We’ve taken technology that’s on LG consumer products and optimized it for the commercial space,” Dan Leunig, senior national sales manager, HE-B2B commercial at LG said when we met him at #dse2015.
“And we now offer the complete hardware and software so clients can manager their own content management platform.”
LG’s webOS for Signage enables a variety of web-based applications across multiple platforms, including Linux, Android, iOS and Windows, as well as the ability to write applications using HTML 5. With webOS, LG’s Smart Platform Signage can be updated immediately via a smartphone or tablet. WiFi connectivity eliminates the need for a wired connection or costly network infrastructure.
“We’ve been adding partners so, eg., we have partners that can provide content, thereby allowing us to offer the whole package, whatever clients require,” said Leunig. “We have a new SE3B series that’s a new entry level product, WiFi enabled, geared for the customer that wants only one or two displays. It has a detachable logo to personalize it.
“We’ve been looking at the different verticals and then producing products or expanding on products that fit their needs. Our strategy is to be as good or better than competitors so as to both solve their problems and maybe save them some money.
“To that end, we’ve been building teams and bringing in partners, such as Signagelive. Further, we feel we have the best warranty and super sales and support.”
LG has been making a push with its Ultra HD in all sizes.
Also available, likely in the next three-to-six months, will be the LG Cooler, which features a transparent LCD display backlit. Drawing a lot of interest at LG’s booth, its market will be mainly C-stores, grocery stores, bars and restaurants.
In a formal press release, Kimun Paik, B2B senior vice- president, LG Electronics USA said, “Our customers are at the core of everything we do. As new applications for digital signage emerge and the category continues to grow, it’s our customers’ input that drives our commitment to delivering superior engineering in a wide range of real-world commercial applications.”
LG’s displays included a 98” 4K Ultra HD display, that delivers 3840 X 2160 resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio, displaying vivid images with superior brightness and an incredible level of detail – four times the resolution of 1080p Full HD displays.
