#dse2015 LG-MRI Sometimes Together, Sometimes Alone

Gail Chiasson, North American Editor

The 10-year-old MRI (Manufacturing Resources International) made a 50-50 joint venture a year ago with LG Electronics, and we met David Kasvycki, director of business development, for Alpharetta, Georgia-based LG-MRI, for the first time at #dse2015.

IFWith its booth showing off everything from a Verifone Taxi with digital tops from the joint venture to a new cooler that was a sole MRI project, Kasvycki explained the origins of the company as well as the various joint and separate projects the company is working on.

MRI grew from APC technology which included LCDs in military aircraft, Kasvycki said.

Now, with the joint venture with LG, it does a lot of outdoor-type signage such as the afore-mentioned taxi tops now deployed on 200 taxis in New York and Las Vegas.

“We do some joint engineering with LG and expect to be doing some co-development long-term,” said Kasvycki. “What you are seeing here at #dse2015 is some of the outdoor digital signage line. We also work on street furniture for many of the major large media companies in the US and Canada.”

We saw an 84” digital menu board that Kasvycki said has very low power consumption, Ultra HD resolution and a 10-year life span, along with a new product, WindowVu, designed for placing inside a storefront window facing out, which will hold its 3,000 nits brightness for 10 years.

“We are currently doing an installation for a large bank in Canada,”
he said.

MRI has, without LG, developed a cooler with its own technology – interesting, since LG will be offering one of its own within the next six months.

MRI’s cooler, with digital technology built on the front, is already being sold, with 2,000 already deployed. It carries the commercial Energy Star endorsement.

Anheuser Busch is currently rolling out 1,000 with more expected. Others have been sold as far away as New Zealand and for other brands.
