#dse2015 BenQ Bigger Than We Knew

Gail Chiasson, North American Editor

We had no idea of the size of BenQ before meeting Bob Wudeck, BenQ’s associate vice-president, strategy and business development, at #dse2015.

IFIt’s part of a group of BenQ companies owned by Qisda in Taiwan with more than USD 20 billion in revenue. Wudeck said that the company is a major player in DLP front projectors and flat panel displays.

“We sell mainly in Europe and China, but North America has been the fastest growing part of the business in the past year,” said Wudeck.

What took our eye in BenQ’s booth at #dse2015 this year was a small display of 16” x 3” panels grouped to attract and be used by creatives who want an artistic display.

However, among its many offerings, the company has a wide selection of panels, which it sells to system integrators in its Integrators’ Choice resellers. Its 28” and 38” panels are geared for retail, metro transport, sporting venues and C-stores.

It has a 79” interactive panel with 4K resolution and 10 point touch with a MSRP of USD 6,000.

“With it, we offer our Q Write interactive software for free,” said Wudeck. “It works with anyone’s software. There’s a front AV input panel and you can plug in any device.”

Ben’s new two-sided panel, which what we originally approached the booth to see, is only 1” thick and can be on a standard floor mount or can be wall or ceiling mounted. We could envision it in shopping malls, convention centres, sports arenas and airports. Offering various brightness, this one is strictly for indoor use and can be obtained through the Integrators Choice distributors or on BenQ’s web site. It sells for just under USD 10,000.
