New York-based Clear Channel Spectacolor, a brand division of Clear Channel Outdoor Americas, again this year partnered with Tony Awards Productions and The Times Square Alliance, to bring a simulcast of the TONY Awards to Time Square Clear Channel’s Spectacolor screens with full audio and free seating for 2,000 guests in the heart of the Broadway community.
Justin Guarini (Wicked, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, American Idiot, Romeo and Juliet); Deborah Cox (Aida, Jekyll & Hyde); and Jeanna de Waal (Kinky Boots, American Idiot, national tour of Wicked) performed June 7 during the seventh annual simulcast of the awards. Guarini, co-executive producer, and Cox, a GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum selling singer and entertainer, also hosted the simulcast event.
Along with a red carpet meet and greet with Guarini and Cox, and performances by Broadway’s hottest stars, theatre lovers also had a front row seat to the live action at Radio City Music Hall, including portions of the Tony Awards Red Carpet, the Creative Arts Awards and the main attraction, the Tony Awards Show.
Harry Coghlan, president of CCOA-NY, says that the company was pulling out all the stops to deliver an immersive fan experience where seating was open to the public on a first-come, first served basis.
