TruMedia Technologies Appoints New CEO
Trumedia now has an office in Spain with a technical support engineer and a sales resource and a sales person in the Netherlands. That’s not a bad start for coverage initially based out of an Israeli R&D facility.
To get to where they want to be though, the US is obviously an incredibly important marketplace and their latest press release announces the appointment of a new CEO and a new Florida based office.
If they want to be as influential in the out of home advertising world as they claim then we would have thought that Madison Ave, New York would probably have been a good place for an office – maybe George E. Murphy, the new CEO lives in Florida?
George seems to be someone with a good marketing background and someone also from outside the industry – probably a very good thing with this particular ‘audience measurement’ niche.
The press release quotes him as saying “TruMedia has revolutionized the out-of- home measurement industry and I’m looking forward to leading the company into the next phase of its development.” – that’s not exactly accurate.
Trumedia of course WANT to “revolutionise the out-of- home measurement industry” but they haven’t to date and there is a long way to go to do that – their competitors like Quividi and Wututu also want to do the same and we think that folks outside of this narrow video camera / face recognition niche, like Arbitron may in actual fact be even more important in this area than the pure technology folks (let’s face it Trumedia, Quividi and Wututu are technology companies with technology products looking for a marketplace).
Overall though an important announcement from a well funded company that is doing the right things to be seen to be big and global – they will win a lot of business just be being in both Europe and the US we expect.
