While admittedly more of an A/V project than digital out-of-home, we thought that this unique project, involving TanZ Group of Beverly Hills, California, Barco of Rancho Cordova, California, Volvox Labs, of Brooklyn, New York, Video Games Live creator Tommy Tallarico, and renowned EDM artist, film composer and technologist Brian Transeau, was worth taking a look.

Electronic Opus New

Electronic Opus, a creation of TanZ Group, and Tallarico, is a unique and immersive electronic symphonic concert featuring famous works reimagined by Transeau.

This innovative project, which premiered at Miami Music Week in late March, 2015, showcased a combination of orchestral instrumentation and synthesized electronic works wrapped within a dynamic projection mapping powered by Barco projectors, delivering what many call “the catalyst to the future of electronic dance music.”

The Electronic Opus is a melding of minds across mediums – a symphony orchestra blended with electronic instruments, soaring vocals, a giant innovative hardscape, and brilliantly shapeshifting video – culminating in an immersive sensory experience. Transcending the boundaries of each musical genre, Electronic Opus blends classical and electronic musical styles, appealing to a broad spectrum of demographics and musical tastes. Tying it all together was a stunning interactive 3D projection mapping show, fully enveloping the audience in a kaleidoscope of dynamic sight and sound.

Electronic Opus 3To create the innovative stage show, interdisciplinary new media design studio Volvox Labs designed and built a 52’ x 13’ topographic wall as a video mapping surface to represent a ‘physical manifestation of the animated worlds and a wormhole to different dimensions.

Barco provided three RLM-W14 large-venue projectors and short-throw lenses to power the custom sound-driven visuals, which transport the audience on an epic journey through space and time.

“The combined effect of the multi-dimensional wall and the perfectly blended projection echoing the acoustical experience was stunning – you felt like you were actually inside the show!” says Sam Krichevsky, CEO, TanZ Group.

Thanks to the extended warping and blending capabilities of the RLM-W14 projector, the unique interactive segments seamlessly blended with the exclusive synchronized HD video footage. An additional projector was used to create holographic projections on transparent acrylic panels in front of the orchestra, creating instant mega HD TV walls.
