“New York Digital Signage Week gives more justification for people to get on a plane and come and spend a week in New York” so said Susan Danaher, then President of the Digital Place-based Advertising Association when the week was first ‘inaugurated’ five years ago.
“The happening that I like to call the Digital Signage Olympics will attract more and more industry players to New York to learn, network, sell, and otherwise engage with the industry. It is going to grow in importance and attractiveness, and that is nothing but a great development for digital signage” said Real Digital Media CEO and (outgoing) Digital Signage Federation (DSF) President Ken Goldberg.
“The New York Digital Signage Week is here to stay” he continued.
A joint initiative with NEC Display Solutions and with help from both the DSF and the DPAA has ensured that the (DPAA) #VideoEverywhere Summit, the NEC Showcase and The DailyDOOH Investor Conference would be held on consecutive days in an October or November timeframe.
Since then the week has gone from strength to strength, with even more organisations and associations adopting it, as it becomes the independent, impartial place where the digital signage (and by default, the digital out of home) industry comes together once a year.
Organisers of events, envision a week similar to New York Fashion Week, with numerous ‘happenings’ of various types aimed at attracting a mix of advertisers, network operators, manufacturers, integrators, agencies, software developers, investors and more – all having the chance to meet up, network, learn and do business.
This year, New York Digital Signage Week will take place November 2-6, 2015 and as usual there will be a whole host of events for retail, employee communications, digital out of home and of course digital signage.
