Whilst this startup seems to be squarely aimed at the home, it surely has usage in our ‘indoor’ world – shopping mails, transportation hubs etc. and we’re looking forward to seeing it in person at #CES2016.
A Montreal-based tech startup called Aerial‘s technology does something that, it is claimed, has never been done before – enabling smart environments by using existing Wi-Fi signals to understand indoor activity.
Their pitch is that they provide a unique method of automating a household: it’s device-agnostic, does not require any installation of sensors, and has the ability to create unique profiles in a given environment.
Aerial co-founder and technology-lead Michel Allegue told us “Our technology is truly groundbreaking. We have the capability of harnessing existing Wi-Fi signals to understand humans like never before. Because CES is the global stage for next-generation innovations, we know that it is the perfect platform to introduce Aerial to the world. We are confident that this time, what happens in Vegas, will not stay in Vegas.”
The Aerial team will be showing potential customers and investors how its product will change the way people perceive home security, baby monitoring, senior fall detection, fire rescue, and much more – yes, and we think this has applications in the outdoor world as well, Ed.
About Aerial
Aerial is a high-tech, rapidly growing startup incubated at TandemLaunch in Montreal. Founded only in February 2015, they have quickly developed the next generation of Indoor Activity Recognition by detecting ambient information without carrying any device and building intelligent activity profiles for each individual interacting with the current wireless signals in the environment. Its technology is a result of a solid Intellectual Property (IP) strategy, which is fed by both existing technologies from the best universities worldwide and core in-house IPs creation.
