As mentioned last week, Norcross, Georgia-based NanoLumens, which usually has a major booth showing off its products, decided to only take a small meeting room at the back of the hall at #dse2016 this year.
However, we had a chance to meet the NanoLumens team of Rick Cope, CEO; Joé Lloyd, director of global marketing; and Karen Robinson, executive vice-president, in the meeting room where they enthusiastically discussed why they didn’t have a big booth this year. And, of course, also showed us examples of some of their outstanding work from around the world this year.
“We almost doubled our revenue in 2015 over 2014, and expect to do the same again this year,” said Cope. “This is due to being able to do things that just didn’t exist before.”
The trio showed us and/or discussed work done for NASCAR; for New Zealand Airport; the 190’ double-sided curved screen at Miami international Airport;, an impressive curved ceiling display at Yorkdale Mall, Toronto, that we hadn’t seen before; and the crystal-like candelabra display at Pacific Mall on Australia’s Gold Coast, which we had seen, as well as Las Vegas’s Red Rock Resort with 1,730 sq. ft. of content in its Race & Sports Book.
“We try to blend architecture, art and information,” said Cope. “I think more people are trying to do that these days.”
NanoLumens is currently building its R&D team.
“We are creating a new generation of staff, bringing science, physics and more to the industry,” said Cope.
And what else is taking NanoLumens’ investment away from having a big booth this year at #dse2016?
“We’re current building a new visualization centre right here in Las Vegas,” said Cope. “It will be open at the end of this year or beginning of next. What better place to put it!”
