#dse2016 Samsung’s Signage Solutions

Gail Chiasson, North American Editor

Well, we finally got to see a few of the numerous displays at the Samsung Electronics America booth at #dse2016, thanks to Marcus Le Clerc, senior manager, EBD-Digital Signage Integration.

Samsung Marcus Le ClercWe started off with an interactive white board with no need for a media player as it was SoC.

Like several other companies, Samsung is now into OLED, although it is only showing a 55” display so far. The TO55E Transparent OLED Display offers customers complete product visibility in informative format. It delivers demos and real-time promotional content. Both it and a new mirror display will be available in Q2, 2016. The Mirror Display is considered ideal for retail environments. With up to 55% reflectance, high transmittance (up to 90%) and frameless design, it is considered as providing new avenues to refine and deliver content ranging from welcome messaging to special limited-time offers.

An interesting digital board that’s all enclosed and rugged enough to be considered vandalism-proof was shown with 2500 Nit brightness. It allows businesses like Quick Serve Restaurants to share brilliant, highly-visible content in even the most challenging of conditions. It’s apparently being used by companies like Burger King and Jimmy John’s.

Samsung OHD Series SMART Signage displays are geared to increase brand awareness, improve traffic and enhance revenue. These IP56 certified high-brightness (up to 3,000 nit), high-contrast (5000:1) displays provide exceptionally clear picture quality, even in bright environment. We learned that these bright OHD Series displays also employ energy efficient technology to minimize the increased power consumption of a high-brightness screen, and come equipped with advanced connectivity technology that enables convenient display management in remote locations.

We also got to see a couple of displays with 2.5 mm pixel pitch and a nice narrow 1.4 mm bezel video wall as well as a couple of interesting curved displays.

While we didn’t see it personally, Samsung’s MagicInfo Audience Measurement camera is a new audience analytics solution that works in concert with Samsung SMART Signage displays and MagicInfo Software to gather customer data anonymously. Empowering retailers to obtain insight into customer spending habits, likes and interests, this tool allows businesses to obtain customer-profiling data through a face recognition camera placed on the display. In turn, businesses can engage customers with targeted information and encourage interaction through public opinion questions, polling and more. Samsung Audience Measurement will be available in Q2 2016
