West Ham Olympic Stadium Plans Big Screen But NOT the Biggest

Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief

The headlines proclaim ‘West Ham plan to adorn Olympic Stadium with ‘biggest digital screens in Europe’‘ and the story ‘Stunning New Stadium wrap design revealed‘ said “It would see the largest digital screens in Europe, measuring a massive 83m by 12m” BUT of course it is never that simple – especially when people do NOT carry out basic research or be specific with their actual claims.

Proposed West Ham Olympic Stadium Wrap

If the planning application, which was submitted at the end of March, is approved then what London will get is indeed, an impressive stadia install – the digital wraps in the artist’s impression look fantastic (see above) but it is unlikely that West Ham will top any industry league tables.

Europe, a continent that comprises the westernmost part of Eurasia and one bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south obviously includes Russia and Poland. As we see it, the (proposed) West Ham Olympic stadium install is dwarfed by the massive Third Ring Road, roadside advertising screen in Moscow (which is 1.5 times bigger) and the Polish Tauron Arena Kraków install (which is 5 times bigger).

This proposed install would come in 27th on the Wikipedia ‘List of largest video screens‘.

Russia is not yet part of Europe. At least not until it’s infantry and tanks ‘holiday’ there for prolonged periods.
