The OBIEs this year showed a major jump in creativity from last year, and while, as mentioned earlier, we felt that there was a need for a revamp of categories in the future (which Stephen Freitas, the OAAA’s chief marketing officer, later told us is in the plans), we really enjoyed seeing the finalists and winners – many of which we had never seen before.
We were interested in the fact that no gold winners were awarded in several categories, proving (to us, at least) that the judging committee – composed of recognized creative leaders – did not feel that there was emphatically an outstanding entry in those categories.
The judging committee looked through 1,200 entries in total.
The Hall of Fame Award, which honours a client’s creative excellence through many years was presented to Corona Extra.
