Advice For The Young At Heart from @Eyetease

Gail Chiasson, North American Editor

Richard Corbett, Founder and CEO of Eyetease, knows what it’s like to be a young company trying to find its way in a highly competitive world.

TDMS2016 - Richard CorbettEyetease developed the digital media technologies of iTaxitop and CabWifi – and is even credited for helping to change regulations in London with Transport for London.

The iTaxitop is seen on hundreds of the iconic black cabs throughout the city.

He spoke in a Q&A exchange with Adrian Cotterill, DailyDOOH’s editor-in-chief, during The DailyDOOH Media Summit held last week at BAFTA, London.

“You can’t be all things to all people,” Corbett stressed. “You have to focus on what you do best. We chose a difficult product in one of the most difficult markets, but we saw an opportunity.

“If you are a startup, have some capital. Bank loans are useless because startups don’t usually have any collateral. If you are starting out, trying to find solutions in a new business sector, there are lots of ways to make money for capital funding.“

In fact, here’s a way for one start-up to build presence in the market: To celebrate the launch of its new video, Eyetease will be giving away £160,000 worth of free advertising on over 400 taxitop screens in London, in partnership with Verifone Media.

The competition is open to startups and SMEs and asks entrants to tweet their pitch using the hashtag #TeaseLondon.
