UK #AVtweeps Form a Pixel Peloton
Bromley Mencap wants to develop a community hub offering training, employment opportunities and a range of inclusive activities for disabled people. The Charity will need to raise capital and revenue funding to support this social enterprise.
Taking advantage of the lovely English summer and the keen riders within the AV industry, the Pixel Peloton has been formed to help with this noble cause. The day will consist on a breakfast on arrival at the Beckenham Cricket Club, a choice of a 60 or 100 km bike ride and a lunch back at the Club with opportunity to network and catch up with colleagues and friends in a relaxed atmosphere. Leading AV companies such as Barco, Daktronics, NEC and Samsung have already put their names down.
The fundraising target for this project is GBP 100,000. All proceeds from the Pixel Peloton event will help get this ambitious dream off the ground.
Date for the diary: June 23rd
The Pixel Peloton crowd will meet at Beckenham Cricket Club, on Thursday June 23rd, around 8:30am. The club, located on Foxgrove Road, Beckenham, Kent, has parking available on site. The nearest train stations are Beckenham Junction, New Beckenham and Ravensbourne.

This is a worthy cause and all help will be welcomed. The Mencap community hub plans also include:
- A café/kiosk, offering snacks, sandwiches and cakes for sale, and provide hot beverages, cold drinks and ice cream. We will create a seating/table area for customers on the ground floor and have tables in the front garden. In the eating area we will exhibit art and products that have been created by disabled entrepreneurs who have their own micro enterprises.
- The garden – We feel that this space will offer new opportunities to our disabled beneficiaries who want to learn gardening skills. The garden is big enough for poly tunnels, where we could grow fruit and vegetables and plants, hanging baskets/planters for sale in the park.
- Showcase our micro enterprises – card making, photography, cake decoration, dog-walking etc.
