STRATACACHE Announces Major Infrastructure Investment
Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief
Fresh from buying a majority stake in Scala Inc, we note that STRATACACHE this week announced the acquisition of a state-of-the-art data center and network operations facility in Dayton, Ohio.
The new STRATACACHE facility has 113,000 square feet of raised floor data center and network operations space with capacity for a 550-seat support desk. Formerly an EDS data center operating multiple GM plants across the region, the site complements existing STRATACACHE hosted resources. The new data center is an outstanding high availability facility with an extensive emergency power system, including three diesel generators with extended life underground tanks. Additionally, redundant, dual grid power feeds, structural resiliency against environmental factors and uninterruptable power systems allow the entire complex to operate effectively for weeks without commercial power.
Chris Riegel, CEO of STRATACACHE told us “Many of our competitors are virtual without offices and production or logistics capabilities. They’re using third-party offshore support teams and driving services from a public cloud platform. STRATACACHE is taking the opposite approach. We’re investing in world-class infrastructure to serve our customers better. Our Fortune 5000 customer base demands real people and real capability to get the job done 24x7x365 and STRATACACHE is stepping up to the task at hand”.
He continued “We continue to aggressively invest in the business to enhance our service offerings for STRATACACHE and Scala customers who are relying on us to deliver mission critical applications and services for their businesses. This momentum allows us to meet the global customer demand for Tier 1 digital signage services and deliver best-in-class capabilities to our customers and partners worldwide.”
In addition to providing the protection and stability for business critical services, the new facility will house STRATACACHE’s primary global support and network operations center for STRATACACHE and Scala products. The increased capacity will address the anticipated business needs of the rapidly growing company with specific emphasis on the support of new Outdoor Digital Menu Board products (recently acquired from Vertigo) and enhanced managed hosting, support and services for the newly acquired Scala brand. The operations center will grow fast, paving the way for up to an additional 200 jobs in the Dayton region.
This investment provides STRATACACHE with a significant advantage in the marketplace. It allows STRATACACHE to leverage its managed service and hosting operations while providing a full spectrum of solutions unmatched by any other company in the digital signage market.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be announced in the next several weeks.
