AVIXA, the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association, this week announced the addition of Ben Caswell as the new Regional Manager for AVIXA Oceania. Effective January 2018, Ben Caswell will lead the association’s membership services, certification, and education program in Oceania, as well as the Australia Advisory Group.
Many AV professionals became acquainted with Caswell at the 2017 InfoComm show in Orlando, where he captured the industry’s interest during the Young AV Professionals program as the founder and driving force behind Tech Crew Global, an initiative that develops the next generation of AV professionals.
Jonathan Seller, Senior Director of Development, Asia-Pacific, AVIXA told us “We are delighted to welcome Ben to the AVIXA team in Oceania. With his enthusiasm for the AV industry, commitment to helping others advance in their careers, and 17 years in professional AV, he brings invaluable field experience to AVIXA. This is especially important, as it truly reflects what our industry association stands for. Ben has in-depth understanding of what AV professionals do, as well as the experiences they create for their customers.”
Prior to joining AVIXA, Caswell led the audiovisual team at Sydney-based Knox Grammar School, where he was the inspiration and founder of the Global Tech Crew concept. The team was started by a group of secondary-level students who discovered their common interest in anything AV. The Global Tech Group enables students to live their passion by creating AV experiences for the school’s events. Watch a video about the Knox Tech Crew produced by the students themselves.
Ben Caswell said “I’m absolutely thrilled to join AVIXA at this exciting time in the association’s history. I’ve always dreamt about having the ability to leverage my passion for AV and professional development in a way that lights the path for our industry’s future generations. As we evolve and mature as an industry, being able to aid and support its growth is not only an honor, but an opportunity for me to create a legacy that we can all be proud of. I am a people person and am all about creating exceptional experiences, hence I am looking forward to meeting and collaborating with all facets of Oceania’s AV industry.”
Caswell was honored with AVIXA’s 2017 Young Professional of the Year award for his commitment and ambition to contribute positively to the next generation in AV. Caswell also initiated the AV Innovators Forum, an annual event gathering AV professionals in New South Wales’ education sector. Caswell’s industry expertise comes from his experience in sound engineering and AV for events.
