On the evening of Thursday November 1, 2018, during New York Digital Signage Week, Barco are holding the last event of their (long) week** and it’s an especially good one – as they have secured the speaking services of a much in-demand individual, namely Moment Factory’s Amahl Hazelton. Registration is now open.
Amahl Hazelton joined Moment Factory back in 2009, and now heads Strategy and Development for Moment Factory’s ‘Urban Spaces’ division.
His experience in digital placemaking ranges from content-rich immersive experiences on Vancouver’s iconic Canada Place Convention Centre to the facades of the Federal Parliament building and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. Building on celebrated media architecture installations from LAX and Changi airports, to flagship civic infrastructure such as the Interactive Illumination of Montreal’s monumental Jacques Cartier Bridge, to the award-winning Kontinuum digital take-over of Ottawa’s soon-to-open LRT subway tunnel in 2017, Moment Factory takes the audience on an exciting, disruptive tour into the future of digital signage.
In this exclusive event which takes place at Spring Studios in the heart of Tribeca, Amahl will present ‘Multimedia Architecture: Passion and Placemaking’.
We all know that retail and leisure centers, sports and entertainment venues, urban and natural public spaces are all investing in new layers of digital infrastructure and activations designed to attract, engage and retain visitors. Amahl will help the audience journey into inspiring content and explore some of the technologies implemented in Moment Factory’s recent interactive Digital Placemaking and Live Entertainment projects.
Amahl told us that “As architecture, public art and digital signage platforms converge and evolve from a passive spectator sport into a responsive, intelligent future, the stories that these digital systems enable are key strategic levers in our quest to create meaning and value in next-generation urban spaces”.
Prior to joining Moment Factory, Amahl was lead Project Manager of Montreal’s celebrated Quartier des Spectacles entertainment district and its Signature Lighting Plan, designed as a flexible, refreshable digital urban canvas–a Plug-and-PlayGround for festivals and curated digital light-art commissions, so he 100% knows what he is talking about!
