Intersection has announced a five-year extension of its advertising partnership with San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA).
Intersection first partnered with SFMTA in 2014, winning a competitive contract for the exclusive rights to sell advertising across one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s largest transit authorities, which oversees all ground transportation in the city. People board San Francisco’s Municipal Railway (Muni) buses and trains more than 725,000 times every day, offering advertisers opportunities to engage customers on their daily journeys. As part of the agreement, which now extends through June 2024, Intersection will continue to sell advertisements across the transit system’s static assets, including on Muni buses, light rail trains, historic streetcars, cable cars, buses, parking garages and transit stations.
Scott Goldsmith, President, Cities and Transit, Intersection told us “From MUNI buses to light rail trains, the SFMTA offers brands the ability to connect with 96% of San Francisco residents. We are thrilled to extend our partnership with the SFMTA and continue to drive new revenue for the transit agency.”
Ed Reiskin, Director of Transportation said “This partnership has been an important part of the working relationship between Bay Area business and public transit that helps provide necessary resources to move Muni riders throughout the city”.
San Francisco is part of a rapidly expanding network of cities and transit agencies leveraging Intersection’s renowned media solutions. Intersection’s media network extends to all of the top 6 U.S. DMAs — New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Dallas — in addition to other major markets such as Charlotte, Houston, Minneapolis, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Seattle and London. Intersection’s network reaches over 50 million people through more than 75,000 digital and static assets nationwide, including Link Wi-Fi kiosks, interactive IxNTouch displays, and IxNSight urban panels.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is a department of the City and County of San Francisco responsible for the management of all ground transportation in the city. The SFMTA has oversight over the Municipal Railway (Muni) public transit, as well as bicycling, paratransit, parking, traffic, walking, and taxis.
