Bodle Technologies Ltd, the Oxford University spin-out transforming non-emissive digital screens with its reflective display technology SRD, has announced that co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Peiman (Pei) Hosseini as their new CEO with immediate effect.
Pei Hosseini who founded the company with Oxford professor Harish Bhaskaran has led its technology development over the last five years. He takes over the CEO position from Mike Clary, who stands down after three years.
Pei Hosseini told us “Reflective is the next big market for information display, and our unique solid state technology produces vibrant colours that can capture unique markets that we are not even thinking about today. Think displays everywhere that are non-intrusive, and do not throw harmful blue-light at you.”
Professor Harish Bhaskaran, Founder Director explained “Bodle’s progress over the past three years and certainly more so in the last 12 months has been phenomenal for a hardware company. Pei, Mike and I have worked together to transform Bodle from a small R&D operation into an organization that runs cutting-edge, research and development in the UK and we are on the cusp of manufacturing real display products in Taiwan.”
Bodle Technologies is developing SRD, described as the world’s first solid-state reflective display technology, based on phase-change materials. Providing vivid colour and video-capability, with zero energy use for static image storage, the technology is ideally suited to address the issues of poor outdoor readability and high power consumption associated with transmissive and emissive displays.
Invented at the University of Oxford, the science behind SRD was first published in Nature during 2014. Bodle was founded the following year and has a growing IP portfolio covering this new display technology. Bodle’s investors are led by Oxford Sciences Innovation (OSI).
