Shopper Media Group, the highest-growth offline media company in Australia (according to Standard Media Index) is celebrating its expansion in the Queensland market with the official opening of its new Brisbane CBD office.

Shopper Media’s CEO Ben Walker, COO Ed Couche, Head of Revenue Jamie Hollebone and Head of Marketing Karissa Fletcher travelled to the Queensland office launch to join in the celebration and to thank clients in one of the industry’s first business events post the pandemic lockdowns.

Jamie Hollebone, Shopper Media’s Head of Revenue, told us “The Queensland market is an important one for our business as we continue to grow our portfolio of shopping centres and our client base. Our Smartlite panels are now in more than 100 Queensland shopping centres, consisting of 65% metro locations and 35% regional centres, offering a good spread for media buyers and marketers. This aligns with a 40% increase in new client growth year-on-year in 2020 and a 21% increase in sales year-on-year in this market. Shopper Media has been in the Queensland market for the past four years but the appointment of Carla Vella as Shopper Media’s Queensland Sales Director in February 2020, and our increased number of shopping centres enabling us to offer scale within the market, has resulted in this significant shift of the dial. COVID really impacted the Australian out-of-home (OOH) industry, with 2020 seeing a 38.7% decrease in the sector. But, the latest Standard Media Index data revealed the significant green shoots within retail OOH, which increased its share by 4.5% to 24.6% of ad spends in 2020, passing street furniture for the first time and closing in on billboards. Shopper Media is proud to have led the way in retail OOH with an 8.4% year-on-year growth, securing the title of highest-growth offline media company in real dollar terms for the second consecutive year. Our Queensland market growth is reflected in these figures, alongside our Smartlite network’s ability to deliver precise targeting and greater mass personalisation.”

Shopper Media’s ongoing investment in its SmartLite network enables it to capture real-time, first-party data and customise the DOOH experience to the demographics of unique local shopping communities. This new level of precision in targeting efficiencies for retail OOH, and the ability to deliver animated creative, sets an industry benchmark for enhancing the shopper experience and modern shopping centre environments that connect consumers and brands.

Shopper Media currently boasts a portfolio of more than 400 shopping centres, providing essential retail services for local communities across the country.

Shopper Media’s CEO Ben Walker confirmed the company remains focused on securing continued growth in all markets, with its teams primed to deliver continued excellence and highly relevant and contextual campaigns to Australian shoppers.
