World Out of Home Organization European Summit
London Digital Signage Week takes place May 17-21 and the World Out of Home Organization are using the week to host their virtual one-day European Regional Event. It is the first stop on their World Out of Home Organization’s 2021/22 World Tour which will also see other events in the APAC region later in the year and Africa in early 2022.
The Tuesday May 18 event, focusing on European content, will consist of three 90-minute sessions: 10.30-12pm, 1-2.30 and 4-5.30 GMT+1 (BST).
WOO Chief Operating Officer Mark Flys told us “There is no substitute for a full WOO global Congress, which we are determined to hold in Toronto 2022. But these Regional Events are also important: an opportunity for the industry to come together on a more regional basis and look for forward to future growth in a post-pandemic world. For the European Regional Event, we are already in touch with some exciting speakers, from the OOH industry and the wider world of advertising and media. Along with London Digital Signage Week, Tuesday May 18 is an important date in the OOH calendar and we hope to welcome as many members and guests as possible.”
James Murphy, co-founder of creative agency New Commercial Arts, and before that a co-founder and CEO of adam&eveDDB, will be one of the keynote speakers.
James Murphy told us “WOO and #OurSecondChance gave what was then the UK’s smallest agency the opportunity to show what we could do on a world stage and that has had an enormous impact on our business. I’m delighted to speak at the WOO European Summit – Out of Home is a medium we all love – and explore the developing role for Out of Home and creativity generally in an admittedly challenging post-pandemic world but one that’s full of opportunities”.
New Commercial Arts was founded in May 2020 and the World Out of Home Organization was its first client. New Commercial Arts devised and produced the celebrated #OurSecondChance digital out of home campaign which ran around the world.
Since then, New Commercial Arts has gone on to win accounts from Halifax, Uber, Vodafone and Habitat/Sainsbury’s.
Murphy’s former agency adam&eve grew from a 2008 start-up to be the UK’s biggest by billings and revenue in 2019 as adam&eveDDB. Murphy is also a past president of the UK Advertising Association, which represents advertisers, agencies and media owners. It is also the AA’s Export Champion.
Adam&eveDDB was voted UK Agency of the Year six times, Cannes Lions Agency of the Year in 2014 and 2018 and won the IPA Effectiveness Grand Prix in 2012, 2014 and 2016. Award-winning campaigns included John Lewis, Harvey Nichols, Marmite and Sony PlayStation.
More details of speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
The WOO event will be free to members, but non-members will also be able to register for a small fee. Non-members booking before April 30, 2021 will pay an Early Bird Rate of €100 Euros going up to €150 Euros after that.
Registration is available here.
The APAC Regional Event is scheduled for late September with the Africa Regional Event in January 2022. Then there will be the twice-postponed World Congress in Toronto in May 2022. These will be live events, pandemic and travel arrangements permitting.
