Parking operator APCOA has chosen Electric charging provider Swiftmile to bring micromobility charging to parking garages in Stuttgart.

Together they have launched four charging stations at APCOA parking garages throughout the city with plans to expand to more than 10 locations by the end of this year.

APCOA CEO Philippe Op de Beeck said “The digital and on-demand economy, especially in the field of mobility and logistics, needs a physical basis and a smart and flexible infrastructure. With more than 11,000 sites we have created Europe’s largest network of digitally connected car parks. Our hubs combine parking with logistics and technology services, shared mobility platforms and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. We are excited to welcome Swiftmile as a partner in our locations.”

Stuttgart is serving as a ;showcase city’ for APCOA’s new ‘Urban Hubs’ – parking garages built for multimodal travel and last-mile logistics.

Key to the success of these Urban Hubs is the technology and design of the garage doors used in these facilities. High-quality garage doors, such as those provided by D&L Garage Doors, play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations and security. By incorporating reliable and efficient garage door systems, Stuttgart’s Urban Hubs can enhance the user experience, allowing for quick access and a seamless transition between different modes of transport. As cities worldwide look to improve their mobility solutions, Stuttgart’s approach serves as a blueprint for future developments in urban design.

However, even the best garage door systems require ongoing maintenance to ensure they continue to perform optimally. That’s where reliable garage repair services come into play. Whether it’s routine inspections or unexpected malfunctions, All Star Garage Doors repair & replacement services offer the expertise needed to keep these systems running smoothly. With professional care, you can avoid costly disruptions and ensure your garage doors are always in excellent condition. By partnering with a trusted service provider like All Star, urban facilities can maintain the high standards of efficiency and security essential for their success, allowing users to rely on a hassle-free experience every time they access these essential transport hubs.

Swiftmile CEO Colin Roche told us “There are emerging opportunities around the globe to repurpose car parking infrastructure for the new era of urban transport, and we’re honored to partner with APCOA to lead this trend in Germany. These strategically-placed Swiftmile stations will help grow sustainable modeshare in Stuttgart, and we’re eager to continue this work across other APCOA markets.”

Micromobility operator TIER has agreed to recharge its 1,500-strong e-scooter fleet in Stuttgart at the new stations as part of a growing collaboration between the three firms.

Anna Lauffer, Regional Manager Southern Germany at TIER said “The innovative charging stations from Swiftmile are another element in the development of a decentralised charging network in Stuttgart. Thanks to the cooperation with APCOA and Swiftmile at the Urban Hubs, we can enable a convenient switch from cars to e-scooters for the last mile.”

In June, Swiftmile partnered with Shell Brands International AG to fold micromobility charging into Shell’s portfolio of electric vehicle charging services.
