Alight Media has partnered with Pinwheel, a pioneering business that aims to repair the planet through investment in rigorously vetted global projects.
Alight is the first media owner to work with Pinwheel and will help fund diverse initiatives such as: seagrass restoration, reforestation, rainwater harvesting and rewilding programmes.
Gavin Sheppard, CEO at Pinwheel told us “It’s entirely unsurprising that the UK’s fastest growing out-of-home media owner has shown the same commitment and enthusiasm for sustainability that they bring to advertising. We’re thrilled Pinwheel is helping Alight Media engage their team by funding some of the world’s most impactful climate and biodiversity projects on the Pinwheel Platform. We see many brands talking the talk; Matthew and the Alight team are walking the walk and we’re delighted to be walking alongside them.”
Since its inception in 2019, Pinwheel has launched 30 projects across 23 countries with three distinct project goals: carbon removal, biodiversity restoration and waste recovery. Pinwheel has also developed an innovative online platform which enables Alight’s whole team to select which planet saving projects are invested in and track progress.
Matthew Dearden, CEO at Alight Media, said “There are many good causes across the globe, but the rigour Pinwheel places around inspecting the genuine impact of each of their projects is impressive. We are committed to growing a positively sustainable business and I’m proud that our Pinwheel partnership has enabled us to empower our team to choose where we can make a difference to planet repair.”
As one of the fastest growing UK out-of-home media owners, Alight tells us that it is committed to making a positive difference. Together with this new Pinwheel partnership, Alight has joined Ad Net Zero alongside industry colleagues to work towards a carbon neutral advertising future.
Further highlights of the work the Alight team is doing to minimise its environmental impact include:
- ISO accreditation for both Environmental Management and Energy Management
- Out-of-home sites powered by 100% renewable energy and located and serviced by electric vehicles
- A Help to Buy Electric vehicle scheme in place for all employees
- A first of its kind ‘Green Corridor’ in Warrington. Where all bus shelters will have living roofs, two will be powered by wind and solar energy, and a 500m grass central reservation will be seeded and re-wilded from a ‘Green Finance Pot’
- A partnership with Justdiggit to help its mission to cool down the planet by regreening degraded land
Alight Media talks to more than 30 million people a month across the UK. It operates over 1,500 sites with digital 48 sheets, digital 6 sheets and classic 6 sheets. Its digital 48 sheets network spans over 165 towns across the UK, 55 of which are unique to Alight Media
