Intersection, the leading experience-driven out-of-home media and technology company, this week announced an exclusive partnership with Southern California’s Metrolink, the nation’s third-largest rail system. Metrolink rail lines cut through some of Southern California’s most populous residential areas and desirable tourist locations in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, and San Diego counties. The contract commenced on April 1, 2023, and will continue for three years, with one two-year option, for a total of up to five years.
“Southern California has been a major focus for us in recent years, and we are thrilled to be chosen by Metrolink, ” said Scott Goldsmith, President & COO at Intersection. “We believe Metrolink’s footprint and audience will be extremely valuable to our advertising partners as they look to reach key targets like consumers and tourists.”
Already the exclusive partner for Los Angeles Metro Rail advertising, the addition of Metrolink greatly increases Intersection’s footprint in Southern California. Metrolink spans 545.6 total service line miles through more than 50 major cities and 100 zip codes. The initial media launch for Metrolink will focus on exterior rail products, including full passenger car wraps, ultra super kings, and rail kongs. With this focus, advertisers can reach not only riders but also heavy vehicular traffic and pedestrians in key areas.
“Intersection’s dedication to finding the right advertising partners for Metrolink will present exciting opportunities for revenue generation and customer engagement at key customer touchpoints,” Metrolink Chief Customer Experience Officer Lisa Bahr said. “Our trains are seen by millions of people each day as they traverse Southern California and will provide advertisers with a level of visibility unmatched in the region.”
Intersection’s media network also extends across the top U.S. media markets – New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Boston, and San Francisco – in addition to other major regions such as Austin, Charlotte, New Jersey, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Portland and more. In all, Intersection’s network reaches more than 50 million people monthly through more than 400,000 digital and static assets nationwide.
Metrolink regional passenger rail service offers reliable, safe, affordable, and environmentally sustainable transportation throughout Southern California. The Agency’s 545.6 total service line miles and 66 stations across Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, and San Diego counties connect people, communities, and businesses and is an essential link in the region’s mobility network. Metrolink’s Arrow service, which launched in October 2022 with nine miles of track and four new stations between San Bernardino and Redlands, provides greater local and regional rail connectivity.
