DOOH’s Very Own Darwin Awards
Douglas Adams once wrote “Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so” and this got us thinking – yes, on occasion it does happen, Ed
The way the industry is seemingly carrying on with itself at the moment many would perhaps say that D’OH is more appropriate than DOOH.
We have a question for you (below) on this subject…
Who should be made to to wear these T-shirts like a sack-cloth for a week?
- The folks who organised the IBC Digital Signage Zone
- The Frost and Sullivan folks who put together the ‘World Digital Signage Systems Market‘ report
- The CBS Outdoor IT and Engineering teams
- 42 Media Group for claiming that within 6 months they might be running the largest digital signage network in Europe
T-Shirt available to buy at http://www.slingshottshirts.com/ but we will buy one for the person who comes up with the most original comment on any of the four options above!!
Answers on a post card please or alternatively you can just leave a comment.
Perhaps our team should consider wearing them in The DailyDOOH Lounge on our stand at Screen Media Expo Europe next May.

How about Am$creen on the list?
As Homer once again bangs his head on the close proximity signage !!

I would lean towards the bluster of 42, but I’ll have to give this one to Frost and Sullivan for acting like experts and conducting amateur work.

F&S all the way. How can you be that wrong, call yourselves experts, and then charge people for your admittedly flawed reports?! As Homer Simpson himself said – “Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14% of people know that.”

the fat guy’s circus on youtube does not help, they will go BUST

I think ImageSound is close to these guys. Trying to buy every business in the industry and being able to ruin each one. And now the Pratt team is off to the USA.

I think you need to give out a series of awards called “Homers” for the 5 worst “D-Oh” moments, projects, actions, ideas in digital signage in a given year.
Perhaps a bit like the Razzie Awards for the worst movies. To start you off I would nominate: –
CBS Outdoor – London Underground
42 Media Group
Any digital network featuring Susan Anton
Indoor Direct/Denny’s Network
Wireless Ronin’s Sales Department

Perhaps the ex imagesound employee was part of the fat trimmed during acquisitions. Sour grapes leading to unfounded and innaccurate statements. Acquisitions are the perfect “excuse” to pick the cream of the crop to take with you and let the underperformers loose.
