Transfer Deadline Day For @iD_Mobile_UK

Global creative and media agency Trouble Maker has today launched an integrated campaign for mobile network operator iD Mobile, tapping into one of the most talked about days in the football calendar – Transfer Deadline Day.

The campaign celebrates exciting star transfers including Kane, Grealish, Watkins and Kelly on giant digital OOH screens at London’s Outernet, to mark the launch of the mobile operator’s special Transfer Deadline Day deal, “Sign Like a Pro”, designed especially for football fans.

The delighted faces of Kane (Jared Kane, 31 from North London), Grealish (Dean Grealish, 28 from Lincoln), Watkins (Izzie Watkins, 32 from London) and Kelly (Chloe-Francis Kelly, 27 from Derry) were revealed on the billboards to mark their switch from rival networks to iD Mobile.

Jonny Grum at Trouble Maker told us “We wanted to tap into the excitement and chaos of transfer deadline day, but with a playful twist. Featuring famously named new signings to iD Mobile on giant billboards provides a great platform to highlight this brilliant new deal, and the value customers can derive from transferring to iD Mobile.”

Lewis Henry, Customer and Marketing Director of iD Mobile, said “Whether it’s a player looking for a bumper new contract with a new club, or someone looking for a new phone contract, getting the best value is important for all of us. We love the alignment with the frenzy of Transfer Deadline Day and the humorous approach that Trouble Maker has taken to encourage people to switch to our bumper new deal during this transfer window.”

The campaign also incorporates PR activity, centred around a nationwide OnePoll survey of 2,000 football fans to discover their opinions on the best and worst value player transfers of all time. Surprisingly, Mohamed Salah’s GBP 34.3m 2017 move from Roma to Liverpool was voted the best value Premier League transfer of all time, beating Cristiano Ronaldo’s GBP 12.2m transfer from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United, and the iconic Eric Cantona joining the Red Devils from Leeds for a mere GBP 1.2m.
