VMO has announced the launch of its retail media network, VMO Shop, with plans to deliver more than 50 shopping centres across New Zealand.

VMO has secured the rights to 20 prominent centres across Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and regional locations including Invercargill, Queenstown, Hawkes Bay, and Taupō.

Paul Butler, Managing Director of VMO told us “A major focus in developing our VMO Shop network in New Zealand was establishing new opportunities for brands to connect with audiences in key regions and we’ve achieved that. We’re committed to creating solutions that make a difference to our clients, and with this new retail network in New Zealand, advertisers can now strategically position their brand along the path-to-purchase, reaching their target demographics where it matters most.”

The business has plans to deliver more than 50 shopping centres in New Zealand, featuring highly impactful formats designed for maximum cut-through.

The installation of over 100 digital supermarket proximity and large format screens is now underway, led by an impressive new large format screen in Auckland’s Ormiston Town Centre, which dominates the main centre thoroughfare. This marks the first of many large format installations, set to become a significant aspect of the network across multiple locations.

The new network will provide advertisers with the opportunity to connect with a range of shoppers, as well as reach new audiences across areas previously untapped by out-of-home advertising.

VMO is a leader in the retail media sector, with one of the largest and most successful networks in Australia. The launch of VMO Shop in New Zealand represents a natural progression for the company, which already operates the only office media network in the country.

Anthony Deeble, Chief Commercial Officer of the Hoyts Group and VMO commented on the expansion, noting that it was a strategic move given the brand’s established expertise in the field and the strength of its retail network in Australia.

“Building on two decades of retail expertise, we’re excited to expand our retail footprint into New Zealand. Our strategic approach is what sets us apart and our focus on quality over quantity is imperative to creating a network that genuinely works for our partners. It’s why all our assets are 100% digital and front-facing in spaces that enhance shopping experiences and where brands can genuinely connect with audiences.”

Key centres within the network include Ormiston Town Centre, Invercargill Central, which was recently awarded NZ Retail Development of the year, Coast Plaza and Eastgate Mall Christchurch.
