CBC News Express At Ottawa Airport

Clear Channel Outdoor Canada has overseen the expansion of CBC News Express, Canada’s only airport news network, into Ottawa International Airport in the nation’s capital city, through which 4.3 million passengers passed in 2008, many on their way to-and-from work in the high tech, research, government and policy sectors.
Until now, CBC News Express had been available only in Toronto’s Pearson and Vancouver airports.
Bill Atkinson, executive director business development, CBC, says, “The CBC is thrilled with the opportunity to extend its news and current affairs, weather and sports programming to air travellers and visitors at the Ottawa Airport through CBC/RDI News Express. This content is provided both in French and English, meeting the needs of the nation’s capital.”
Screens are located throughout the airport, including key baggage claim and hold room areas. Broadcast on 50” high definition screens, this content-rich medium keeps passengers informed on national or international news, including the latest from finance, sports and weather. The hour-long loop contains 40 minutes of information programming, updated several times each day, every day of the week.
John Jory, president, Clear Channel Outdoor Canada, says, “Since the launch at Pearson in 2004, CBC News Express has become an integral part of advertisers broadcast expenditures targeting niche specialty television network audiences. The expansion into Ottawa, and shortly into Edmonton and Winnipeg Airports, will provide advertisers access to five of the six largest Canadian English-language markets, making CBC News Express that much more efficient.”
By the end of the year, over 64 million passengers will have CBC News Express available to them for the latest information as they await their flights.
