CognoVision Named Canada’s Innovation Leader

Markham, Ont.-based CognoVision was recently named Canada’s Innovation Leader 2009 by the Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX).

CognoVision helps retailers and out-of-home digital signage networks measure the effectiveness of in-store marketing and understand shopper behavior. The software company that creates anonymous face detection and people tracking software that gathers data on how people watch ads and how they navigate within retail venues, was chosen by its peers at the Toronto Design Exchange out of the Top 20 that CIX selected as the country’s top technology companies.

Every year, CIX conducts an exhaustive search for the most innovative technology, products, services and companies in the country. 20 companies are then selected to present Canada’s hottest technologies to both Canadian and US high-end executives and investors at the conference. Industry peers at the event then vote on who they believe should be the year’s Innovation Leader.

Cognovision’s system allows end-clients to make data driven decisions to improve the effectiveness of media campaigns; increase product sales and advertising revenue; optimize retail execution; and to reduce operational costs. The technology helps retailers read and understand customer behavior when they come into the store, where they walk to find products and if strategically placed ads affect their purchasing decisions.

CIX is Canada’s most important gathering place for innovative technologies, showcasing the talents of the country’s most cutting-edge technology entrepreneurs and companies.
