Digital Facades
Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief
‘Virtual drywall’, ‘virtual plasterboard’ – just some of the phrases we threw around in the early days of figuring out what use Christie Digital’s new MIcroTiles product could be put to. We are by no means expert in the architecture space but these early conversations sparked our interest in how digital can be used by architects. Since those discussions back in mid 2008 we have followed with a lot more interest this niche sector.
Anyway nice article entitled ‘Planners, Designers Mull Implications of Digital Surfaces‘ over on Architectural RecordOne quote of note “But cheaper display technology, and the money to be made from digital outdoor advertising, suggest that more buildings will incorporate digital signage” – though of course we all know that the path to digital signage is not necessarily laid with advertising gold!
Well worth a read – especially on the zoning and safety issues.

Christie Digital is something like a USD 400 million turnover business and a leader in digital cinema and projection. We have made it quite clear that Christie has been one of our customers for some time.
