WIND Mobile Chooses ADFLOW

The Burlington, Ont. office of ADFLOW Networks Inc., developer of wireless retail digital media management solutions – including passive and interactive digital signage with an integrated customer queue management system – has been selected by WIND Mobile, one of Canada’s newest wireless telecommunications carriers.
WIND Mobile is using ADFLOW’s patented industry-standard, browser-based platform, ADFLOWDMS as the foundation for its in-store digital media system.
WIND Mobile, a Globalive company based in Toronto, has, to date, opened 54 stores, including kiosks in Blockbuster outlets, in the Greater Toronto area, Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton, and is about to open in Vancouver. It also holds spectrum to eventually offer its services in the Hull-Gatinau area of Quebec and the Maritime provinces.
In addition to its own stores, it has also launched in two Value Mobile outlets – expected to expand to approximately 14 by year end – and is currently in talks with others. Value Mobile caters to the Indo-Canadian market, and WIND Mobile is in discussions with other dealer networks catering to the Chinese-Canadian and other ethnic markets.
WIND Mobile’s aim is to become Canada’s fourth major national carrier, but rather than offering phones with contracts, as has been common with the way that Canada’s big three: Bell, Rogers and TELUS, originally launched their mobile offerings to consumers, it is concentrating on phone sales with pre-paid or post-paid services.
“We feel that there is a large market of new Canadians for whom contracts are an alien concept,” says Melissa Clark, vice-president, sales and distribution, Wind Mobile. “We are catering to the ethnic market with this concept.”
To help deliver WIND Mobile’s Offerings, all WIND Mobile retail stores and BlockBuster ‘store within a store’ kiosks feature integrated ADFLOW digital signage displays throughout. Screens range from four to eight per outlet, in 32” and 42” sizes, with content developed in-house by WIND Mobile. Having in-store digital media that is easily controlled from a central remote location, enablesWIND to deliver eye-catching, compelling content that enhances the overall customer experience, whether it is passive or interactive.
“ADFLOW is very experienced with digital media management in the wireless retail space”, says Clark. “Given our aggressive store launch schedule, we relied heavily on ADFLOW’s expertise to ensure a smooth deployment…and it delivered.”
As WIND Mobile expands its retail store footprint across Canada in 2010, ADFLOW digital signage will be an integral component of the overall look and feel of the store and as new store designs evolve, ADFLOW will continue to provide innovative digital media management ideas and solutions.
