#InfoComm2010 – ScalableDesktop™ For Projectors
Scalable Display Technologies has announced the availability of ScalableDesktop™ for seamless multi-projector displays of Windows® 7 desktops.
It’s a actually a software application that can automatically blend and warp arrays of up to six projectors to display seamless Windows7 or Vista desktops, using a patented camera feedback system. It does so using just a mid- to high-level PC, a graphics card, such as the ATI Eyefinity-powered GPU, Canon Rebel T1i or Logitech Webcam 9000 Pro. This means no custom video wall hardware is necessary.
We see this continuing the trend of more applications and powerful PCs with off the shelf video cards being able to create custom display systems that were once the realm of much more exotic and expensive hardware. The advantage for the integrator is that you aren’t tied to one projector manufacturer’s solution, and the system should be much easier to set up without needing complex calibration. It can also handle custom alignments needed for non-flat screen surfaces, like cylindrical screens for example.
