JiWire Names Hurwitz V-P National Media Sales
Gail Chiasson, North American Editor
Dan Hurwitz has been named senior vice president of national media sales at San Francisco-based JiWire, location-based mobile media company that reaches the On-The-Go Audience.
Hurwitz, recently vice-president of advertising sales at AudienceScience, will be joining the executive leadership team, reporting to David Courtney, CEO, and working closely with the management team to further build its sales team as well as the New York office, where he will be based.
“With the huge market opportunity we have as the dominant leader in location-based media, we know the company has the potential to grow dramatically, and Dan provides us with the requisite knowledge and managerial experience to guide that growth in sales,” says Courtney.
JiWire has established itself as one of the premier companies to watch, securing a position among the top 10 companies featured in Adweek‘s Digital Out of Home Hot List this year and being named by AlwaysOn as one of its top 100 media companies in 2010. JiWire management is looking to Hurwitz, a veteran of over 20 years in the advertising business, to help lead JiWire along its fast growth trajectory by bringing strategic and tactical guidance on unique advertising programs and further building its sales team.
“The team at JiWire has built incredible expertise in engaging on the go audiences with a location-based, interactive and measurable solution,” says Hurwitz. “As audiences become increasingly mobile we are well positioned to engage with key consumers as they connect in premium locations on all mobile devices. JiWire has the technology, the vision, and the opportunity to achieve great results for advertisers looking to innovate this energizing market”.
At AudienceScience, Hurwitz delivered strong year-over-year growth for the company. He earlier helped to build and manage the advertising sales team as director of sales at XM Satellite Radio, helping to create and sell unique advertising programs around its digital platform. Prior to XM, he was the director of sales at AOL, co-managing the ad sales operations in New York.
