Bob Michaels, Digital View Speaketh
Gail Chiasson, North American Editor
We had the opportunity to chat last week with Bob Michaels, new president of the Signage Division at Digital View – and, we might add, one of the nice people on our list – who says that challenges offered by his new position are “right up my alley.”
Michaels (see our Jan. 19 and Jan. 24 articles), former CEO at Magenta Research, says that he has two main priorities as he starts in his new position: One is “to establish an effective channel for sales around the globe” and two is “to focus on the current product offerings so as to make revenue from them.”
Michaels says, “The company has good products, but really needs to have a stronger sales channel. We have to reconfigure that channel. We have to be better structured so it isn’t a project-driven operaton. We’re looking for resellers and integrators, strategic distributors.”
Eventually, he’ll also be looking at development of new products and the content management side of the business. Since the company has development offices in Hong Kong, the U.K. and California, with most manufacturing in China, engineering in Hong Kong, (plus customization of products in California which also handles the LCD Division of the company), he expects that he’ll be doing considerable traveling.
However, Michaels will be setting up an office for Digital View in Connecticut, near his home base, adding, “I’m rarin’ to go.”
