A Heart In New York
Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief
If you are an Israeli digital signage technology company the trick at the moment is obviously to follow the well worn path to the streets of New York City.
YCD recruited top folks locally and setup a head office and a new exec management team last year, C-nario did similar – ar least recruiting a US president and half a dozen sales and pre-sales folks and here we see Odysii (nee Tveez) unveil a strategy that hints at US expansion.
In terms of signage there is a lot happening in the US at the moment so this rush to New York makes some sense but it’s going to get crowded there and we are not sure how many of these folks are going to figure out what their own USP is, let alone explain it to potential customers.
As mentioned many times before a lot of companies with a strong technology heritage (EnQii included in this particular criticism) have an aversion to marketing – believing we guess that customers will somehow miraculously beat a path to their door! Oh, if only!
It was interesting back in June that Odysii named Jeff Gattis, a Microsoft veteran as President of U.S. Operations (whilst there Jeff was latterly responsible for launching Surface to the financial services, retail, and hospitality markets) and it will be interesting to see what impact, if any, they can make quickly.
