Technicolor sets up dedicated Out-of-Home Media Networks business
Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief
Mike Silverman who has a brief to ‘keep an eye on Europe’ for the Thomson / Technicolor business units in signage refused to comment on this or give me any indication as to how it would affect him or any more activity / people / offices etc. in Europe and refered me to their press office in Paris – yeah like that would help!.
Anyway in the US, Technicolor has set up a dedicated Out-of-Home Media Networks business unit to look after and focus on the digital signage market.
Thomson announced on 12th November 2007 that it has separated the Network Operations Services business unit within Technicolor Services into the Out-of-Home business and a unit called “Broadcast Network Services”.
The announcement says that the Out-of-Home unit will consist of the American PRN retail networks operation, Screenvision US and Screenvision Europe.
Screenvision Europe is a cinema network joint venture between ITV and Thomson.
The Out-of-Home unit will be headed up by former PRN chief strategy officer Sean Moran.
Bill Patrizio becomes president of its Broadcast Network Services Unit.
Apart from Screenvision Europe their only other activity here is Carrefour in Poland – again they have not been giving any details away about this also but I bet it is not half as good as the Carrefour projects in Switzerland with Neo Advertising or in Athens with i-contact – just a guess you know 😉
