Clear Channel Communications Inc. has launched a major public service announcement campaign in support of the 9/11 Memorial, using a combination of media assets across its outdoor, radio and digital properties in the greater New York City region.
The campaign also leverages Clear Channel’s national platforms to bring these informational messages to other markets and audiences impacted by the events of 9/11.
As part of the campaign, Clear Channel is airing a series of outdoor, radio and digital PSAs that will encourage the public to support the 9/11 Memorial with donations; provide important information about 9/11 Memorial services in New York City on September 11; and direct audiences to the 9/11 Memorial website, where reservations to visit the Memorial can be made.
Clear Channel Radio’s New York stations is airing interviews with 9/11 Memorial representatives leading up to the September 11 memorial service, and stream the full service live on September 11 over station websites. A live video simulcast of the memorial service will also take place in Times Square on Clear Channel Spectacolor’s SpecHD digital display.
The coordinated, multi-platform campaign is appearing on more than 43 billboards around the New York Metropolitan area, including Clear Channel Outdoor’s digital billboard networks in New Jersey and Westchester, as well as the SpecHD video board in Times Square; and air on Clear Channel Radio’s five New York radio stations– Z100, 103.5 KTU, Lite FM, Power 105.1 and Q104 — and their websites. Clear Channel Outdoor’s Washington, DC; Massachusetts and Florida properties are also participating in the campaign.
The Clear Channel program includes creative executions and copy developed for the 9/11 Memorial in partnership with the Ad Council.
“As an organization with deep ties to the New York community, we’re proud to mobilize our people and assets in support of so great a cause, the 9/11 Memorial, and to help communicate such vital information as how to make reservations online for visiting the Memorial,” says Lisa Dollinger, Clear Channel’s chief communications officer, who coordinated the Company’s community engagement partnership with the City of New York and the 9/11 Memorial.
Clear Channel Outdoor’s program was developed under the direction of Harry Coghlan, president & general manager, Clear Channel Outdoor – New York Division. Joe Puglise, president & market manager, Clear Channel Radio – New York, spearheaded the commitments being made by Clear Channel Radio.
