In his first interview since the announcement of his appointment this morning as CEO of Scala, Tom Nix spoke to DailyDOOH (naturally) about his immediate thoughts, goals and challenges for a company that’s already riding high in sales globally. (See our earlier article re Gerard Bucas.)
“There are three things to be addressed immediately,” said Nix who will continue to work out of Exton, Pennsylvia, where, since he joined Scala in July, 2010, he has been vice-president Americas & Oceania, with responsibility for all of Scala’s sales, services and support operations in the US, Latin America and Oceania. “People want mobility addressed. People want to leverage their investment in data regarding sales, CRM, POP, etc.. And people like the stability of the product so have to be aware of the cost savings. It’s such a big thing.”
Nix says that Scala doesn’t plan to push mobility or anything else as a silver bullet with a one-size-fits-all approach. “Our approach is and will be one where we better understand the client re wants and needs and then help his company craft mobility into the package that will meet all his needs and how it relates to digital signage.”
Re the dynamic data, Scala’s plans are well underway with a new product, the CXO Board, due to be introduced late this year that will address senior executives’ requests for up-to-the-minute data on sales force, CRM, and other key performance data that has been, to now, a static poster on the wall. With the CXO Board, there will be a custom private channel on the wall screen in the corporate executive’s office that will address this data and be updated as often as the company wishes. The first digital screen CXO Board will go up in an unannounced senior executive’s office in the US in December.
“We feel that there are huge opportunities in the corporate sector for this,” says Nix.
“On the third item, we have huge deployments out there and we want to make sure that everything we do is rock-solid so that when we’re meeting with customers we can show the huge cost savings they obtain with our product.
“I think these three things put us in a good place for even further growth.”
