Appcelerator Raises $15 Million

Mountain View, California-based Appcelerator, developer of a mobile platform for quickly developing mobile web apps, has raised $15 million in a new round of funding from Mayfield Fund, TransLink Capital, Red Hat, eBay, Sierra Ventures and Storm Ventures.

Appcelerator pans to use the new funding to fuel expansion into Europe and Asia, as well as continue developing its flagship platform.

The company is currently the largest third-party publisher in the Apple and Android marketplaces, with over 30,000 mobile apps on 30 million devices.
