Cameron Clayton, executive vice-president of The Weather Channel, has been named chairman of the Global Board Executive Committee of the Mobile Marketing Association, New York-based global trade association for the mobile industry.

In addition, Jack Philbin, co-founder and president of Vibes, has been named secretary, replacing Clayton in that role.

Further, industry veterans Jack Haber of Colgate-Palmolive and Bob Liodice of the Association of National Advertisers have been named to the MMA Board. They serve in an active advisory role, working with the board and CEO Greg Stuart. All have been appointed for the 2011-2012 board term.

Clayton takes the place of Melis Ertem, media & entertainment and telco services division head, Turkcell, who stepped down this autumn expecting the birth of her first child. Clayton will serve out Ertem’s term until April 2012, and Ertem will continue to serve on the Executive Committee as a member-at-large.

“The MMA has been building momentum over the last year, and these moves allow us to drive forward with our mission to make mobile an indispensible part of the marketing mix,” says Stuart.

The Executive Committee’s other roles remain unchanged. Paul Palmieri, president, CEO and co-founder, Millennial Media, continues as global vice chairman; Barney Loehnis, head of digital, Asia Pacific, OgilvyOne Worldwide, remains global treasurer; and Federico Pisani Massamormile, CEO, HANZO, continues as chair emeritus.
