DGScreen Ltd., an emerging provider of cloud-based digital signage systems, today announced the launch of their DGSplash software media player.
DGScreen is one of the first digital signage providers to integrate the OpenSplash software media player into their CMS system and the absolute first to make it commercially available.
The DGScreen digital signage system including the DGSplash software media player is available on a true SaaS basis – under USD 25 monthly subscription plan with NO yearly advance payment or time commitment.
Francine Haliva, Director of Sales & Marketing, explained, “DGScreen is constantly evolving to meet the market’s needs. We wanted to be able to offer our low-cost premium digital signage solution to customers who want to use their existing equipment and infrastructure. As a cloud-based solution, the addition of a software media player completes our offering to address this need.”
Francine continued, “Like other digital signage vendors, we marketed our solution on a SaaS basis yet demanded the first year paid in advance. With the launch of the DGSplash media player, users can try our full system for 30 days free and then continue on a pay-as-you-go monthly basis. DGScreen resellers can further differentiate themselves by offering the same terms to their customers while bundling the system with their own value added services. By giving users the ability to cancel their subscription at any time, we put the onus on us to maintain the highest standards to ensure customer satisfaction. We are committed to this goal and our new offering and payment structure are further proof of this commitment.”
Silver Curve’s Bryan Crotaz, who sits on the OpenSplash Steering Group and whose consultancy firm worked on the product told us “The OpenSplash platform provided a ready-made, robust signage player on top of which we could add a basic SMIL integration to be driven by the CMS. Having built a signage player from scratch in the past, I can say that this process was trivial in comparison.”
He added “The player handles multi-zone image, flash and video content, and combined with DGScreen’s innovative server-side rendering of templated content as H.264 video, makes for a flexible and powerful signage system.”
The player supports both Windows and Linux as well.
