Even though the Las Vegas McCarran International Airport has free Wi-Fi we received an interesting press release ahead of #CES from Gogo who offer a service that provides inflight internet on all US domestic AirTran Airways, Delta Air Lines, Virgin America flights (and on selected Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways flights)
Their release said “If you’re like us, you’re flying to Vegas for CES and dreading the influx of emails the moment after you land. We want to help you land on top of all those e-mails from companies, publicists, your boss and your significant other while flying above the clouds!”
It continued “As a special bonus to those attending the 2012 International CES, Ford and Gogo are teaming up to give attendees 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi access on all Gogo-equipped flights in and out of Las Vegas from January 7 to January 13, 2012”.
To access the free Wi-Fi, once the plane passes 10,000 feet (and you are allowed to use electronic devices) connecting to Gogo on your flight using your Wi-Fi enabled device, open a browser and enter an email address in the special Ford/CES promotion on the Gogo home page.
Nice promotion and clever marketing.
