As announced back in Oct./11, DIRECTV and RMG Networks are about to launch that digital signage product that they were developing with RMG technology.
We’ve learned that it will be a Message Board geared to allow businesses to overlay customized promotional messaging on to the live DIRECTV programming. That sounds a little confusing to us so we’re anxious to see a photo and perhaps – hopefully – to see a prototype when we’re in Las Vegas at the Digital Signage Expo next week. We believe it will be shown on the DIRECTV booth (#1039).
The product apparently empowers business managers to improve service, and up-sell products while entertaining consumers with premium satellite TV. We know that the product is web-based, thereby allowing businesses to create messages in minutes from any computer to display on one or more TVs. (We’re not sure if this means across a network or just on a store-by-store basis.) We’re told that the solution eliminates the need for costly rollout and installation, being that it’s simply built into the DIRECTV service bundle.
By integrating RMG’s technology with DIRECTV’s video services, the Message Board creates a ‘groundbreaking’ new solution for customer interaction, while adding the Message Board functionality to DIRECTV’s comprehensive pay-TV package puts digital signage within reach for thousands of businesses looking to entertain and inform their customers – while helping grow their bottom line.
Hopefully we’ll have more information and perhaps a photo in the next few days.
