Pearl Media this week announced Joe DePreta has joined the company in the newly created role of Chief Marketing Officer.

DePreta will oversee all marketing, strategy, creative, social media and public relations for Pearl Media. He brings more than 25 years of consumer strategic marketing experience on both the client and agency side to Pearl Media, having most recently served as the Chief Marketing Officer at Wharton Innovative Products. DePreta will report to Pearl Media President and CEO Josh Cohen.

Josh told us “Joe’s combination of management experience, strategic savvy, marketing results and creative skills make him a terrific fit to help lead Pearl Media. As a leading non-traditional out-of-home company, we need a leader that can build on the brand experiences we create for our clients and amplify our service offerings for new clients.”

DePreta served as the Senior Vice President of Brand Integration at Dentsu, landing accounts including Express Jet Airlines and Wharton Innovative Products, which led to DePreta joining Wharton in 2009 as CMO. While at Wharton Innovative Products, DePreta was the architect of the men’s skin care brand, ON THE JOB. Under his leadership, he created a uniquely differentiated platform, an effective and relevant brand identity and a planning process that led to ON THE JOB’s advertising campaign winning a Gold ADDY Award for Dentsu America in 2010.

Prior to that, DePreta served as Head of Marketing at BellSouth Wireless (now AT&T) and was responsible for overall branding, advertising, media, promotions, public relations, research and planning, sponsorships and through-the-line initiatives. Under his leadership, the brand uncovered original key insights, which to date, continue to drive the wireless business. He also served as chair of the marketing committee for the GSM Alliance.

DePreta has held management positions at Interpublic’s Lintas, where he grew multiple multinational brands including Coca-Cola’s Cherry Coke and Sprite, Nestle Pet Care and numerous Unilever and Kraft products.
