We’ve just learned the astonishing news that MMD has changed its French representation for Philips Public Signage screens from the Winning Company to DAM with effect from 1st January this year.
In other words, moving from a dynamic modern forward-looking team to, errr, a well-known wholesaler of screen mounts….! Apart from maybe being able to bundle a few screens to a couple of existing retail customers, it’s difficult to imagine the reasoning behind the move. The team at Winning Company understands digital signage and is/was highly motivated – and is rumoured to be in detailed negotiations with several major retail chains.
The announcement about the changeover is ill-timed and clumsy – but then it is not the first time that MMD has behaved strangely.
We wait to see how it all plays out in the coming weeks as details about the handover get worked out.
