David Dalzell 1955-2013
Adrian J Cotterill, Editor-in-Chief
It is with great sadness that we have to pass on the news of the death of David Dalzell, founder and managing director of ONELAN Ltd, following a long battle with cancer.
David established ONELAN in 1988 and the company has focused on digital signage and IPTV for the last twelve years. He led the company from its humble beginnings in his garage, to the business it is now, with a turnover in excess of GBP 5M and employing over 40 staff worldwide.
He was particularly proud of ONELAN winning not one, but two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise; one for Innovation, the other for International Trade – over half of ONELAN’s revenues are from export sales. A series of industry awards and continued growth bear testament to David’s vision and drive. Nick Randall, ONELAN’s Chairman said “David will be much missed. Over the past two years, he strengthened the board and management teams with a view to securing the long-term future of the company. We continue to pursue David’s vision.”
ONELAN Ltd is based in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

Well that’s a terrible way to start my ISE week. I worked briefly with David a couple of years ago and found him highly intelligent and fantastic to work with. My condolences to his family and to all the ONELAN staff.

What sad news. David was my very first client when I set up Market Energy in 2005 and I always found him a real gentleman. My condolences to his family and colleagues.

I have known David for many years, and undertook the original market research that lead to Onelan.
David was a fearsome competitor on the Squash Court and a gentleman in every sense of the word.
I am very sad to learn of his loss and i would like to give my really deepest condolences to his family and colleagues at Onelan.

As a long term competitor from the start, I found David to be approachable and professional regardless of our business positions.
On many occasions we would discuss the state of the industry and I consider him a valued competitor with a proven track record without the hype.
A fine example of individual British development successfully taken too far away places.
My condolences to his family, and I hope the ONELAN name continues with his spirit, focus and determination.
